Management Stalking

Deer hunting in Scottish woods

Management stalking is non-trophy hunting where the priority is to maintain deer population levels which ensure a healthy yet harvestable surplus each year.

It involves the culling of surplus young deer to keep the numbers down, and those with poorer heads, so that a good quality deer stock remains.

One of the aims of management stalking is to retain a balance between the interests of the Scottish landowner and the resident deer population.

At the same time it allows the hunter to use his experience and shooting skill to select the most suitable deer for culling.

Managment stalking
Management Stalking underpins the true principles of deer control and we regard it as a vitally important aspect of roe deer hunting.
